King cel ebrated their 4th wedding anniver sary by a dinner at their home here at six o'clock Saturday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Wes Ste vens and Miss Lois, Arlton Stevens, and Mrs. Frank McDaniel. Add Inskeep went to work for Floyd Adams Monday. George Smith returned Wednes day from Long Beach, Calif., where he has been attending diesel school. He saw some of the flood waters there. He stated the water as being six feet deep in that city at one time. He is at the Adams home. Esten Stevens motored to Her- miston Sunday. Mrs. Roy Robison and daughter Rita visited Saturday and Sunday in Heppner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Saling who brought them hame Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bleakman and children, Owen and Neva, and granddaughter Nita Rae, attended the dance here Saturday evening and remained over Sunday visiting with Mrs. Bleakman's sister, Mrs. Chas. McDaniel. Mrs. Lotus Robison and son Rich ard spent Sunday visiting friends here. Mrs. Sam McDaniel is spending! a few days with her husband. Max ine is staying at the home of Mrs. Dick Steers. Oscel Inskeep came home to spend the week end. His lights went out on the Hardman grade as he was returning and he almost upset his car and was forced to wait until Monday 'before returning to his work. J. W. Gallagher made a business trip to The Dalles last week, bring ing back some vegetables. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Farrens were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Mary Coats Sunday. James O'Connor made a business trip here Sunday. He was looking for a man and woman to help at his ranch during lambing. Commissioner: C. W. isariow. County Clerk; F. C. Alfred, District At torney; C. J. D. Bauman, Sheriff. une minutes 01 me January term were read and approved. Various claims against the county were presented and the Court allowed, continued or aisanowea tnem, ana or dered approved claims paid by proper warrant from the proper fund. Court declared its intention to vacate a portion of County Road No. 164, as it is burdensome to maintain. Court declared its intention to vacate a portion of a road in Section 23, Twp. 1 N. R. 24. E. W. M.. as the road nasi already been abandoned, and the traffic taken care of by the Ione-Boardman road. The Engineer's reports on these va.- cations were filed at this time and the hearing on the resolutions set for April 7, 1937. Petition for improvement of road from Jordan Siding to Base Line and thence east to Lexington-Jarmon Road received and filed. Sheriff was ordered to advertise and sell at public auction Lots 9 and 10 in Block 8 of Sperry's 2nd Addition to lone for a minimum price of $101.00. Court ordered that extra help be paid at the rate of $3.50 per day for tax re ceipts and for making new owership records in assessor's office, but after that the rate to be $3.00 per day. Court ordered that $50 be paid to p. W. Mahoney to appear before the leg islature for the purpose of obtaining an appropriation for the building of flood control dams on Willow and Rhea Cr66ks Court ordered that compensation be allowed for the use or tractors at tne rate of 25 cents per horse-power per day on road work, the owner to fur nish fuel and oil and the Court to allow $3.00 per dav for driver. For grader man, $2.65 per day and for common labor, W.2b per flay. Court agreed that M. L. Case be al lowed to lav linoleum on floor of Treas urer's office, vacated D. A.'s office, la dies' rest room, and halls and steps. J. O. Archer was hired as janitor for the Courthouse at the rate of $75.00 per month, beginning March 1, 1937 Court sold building on Tract 114 and 115 to Heppner to John Wightman for $125.00.
